India, here we come!!

In about a weeks time, M and I are heading to India for our vacation - me, after 3 years and M, after 17 years! Even though I would not be able to visit Nagpur (My parents have moved to the Silicon valley of India - Bangalore), I am very excited. The thought of meeting my parents & sister and spending 31/2 weeks with ALL the people that matter to me is a HUGE deal.

My sis and I have planned some amazing trips to Ooty, Mysore and Waynad. She is definitely a tough cookie when it comes to vacation planning - she pretty much has a detailed account of how we are going to spend every single waking moment. M and I are a little worried , if whether we can keep up with all that, considering our mostly inactive life in suburbia. :-).

I also plan to try out my new Canon EOS Rebel Xti (birthday gift from my sweet hubby) - I hopefully would have some interesting shots to post when I get back.

I am nearly done with my shopping. My dearest Pa has asked me to bake some vegan ginger snaps and Appam for him.( Yes, that's right - Baked Appam - my own little invention that is a major hit with the family). Well, thats it for now - should get back to my list of things to do before leaving!

A Fresh Beginning ?

So, just created this one more blog - this time promising myself that I would be good - would post religiously and keep the blog up-to-date. Last time around, I created a blog dedicated to the love of cooking. The bottom line is, as much as I love to cook , I am just not that person who wants to use up umpteen pieces of cutlery trying to get that perfect shot . I respect people who have that kind of patience and dedication....but I just was not born with it.
I dont think I can be dedicated to just that one hobby that I could put above every single thing. Hence, why focus on just one topic for a blog?

This blog is about a little bit of this and a little bit of that - want this to reflect the flavor of the moment ( according to my mind that is ! ). I also think that blogging is a fabulous way to take time off from the hectic maze and reflect upon one's thought process / likes and dislikes. Needless to say, this could eventually help me with brushing up my writing skills.

A little bit about me - I am a woman in her twenties, working with a Fortune 10 company in the windy city of Chicago, thousands of miles away from the place that I used to call as home - Nagpur, India. What a vicious cycle!! You want to make something of yourself so that you can be the source of strength for the family , if need be, but ultimately you realize that you are so far away from home that you miss out on all the little everyday things. Now, interaction with the family is limited to talking on weekends or meeting every other year, and everytime you see them, you realize how much time has passed. Your parents look older than you remembered, and that vulnarability is scary. I think this is something that every non resident Indian struggles with.

Back to me again , I am aiming to start my MBA in 07' . I know, eventually, that I want to be an entrepreneur, but have not yet identified how I will meet my goal. I hope to clarify my thought process as I go through business school, assisted by "fountain of knowledge" that the school would provide! :-)

Lets see where this leads to! Thanks for stopping by!
